Vivo V9 Review 2018 India: Why You Should Buy It

Vivo V9 Review

In this post we have mentioned Vivo V9 review. Let’s start the review. There is no doubt that more smartphone companies are inspired by Apple about their phone design. Even earlier we have seen dozens of such smartphones, which are similar to the iPhone. When Apple made major changes to the design in the iPhone X, the rest of the companies also came to follow him. Asus was the first company, which designed Zenfone 5 (2018) and Zenfone 5Z like the iPhone X.

Vivo has also participated in this race and launched its VivoV9 inspired by the design of the iPhone X. Since Asus has not yet launched its phone in India, So Vivo has become the first company in the country to have an Android smartphone with the notch.

In Vivo V9, the company has given the Bezelless screen and its top notch. The phone looks appealing but is it a smartphone worth a whopping Rs 22,900? We have investigated.

The long and big display is of 18: 9 aspect ratios. On turning on power, looked up at the given notch. The notch width is smaller than iPhone X. It contains earpieces, selfie cameras and two sensors. Along with the small notification light, which is just above the earpiece.

Notch is covered with a display. It has been claimed that after this the screen remains 6.3 inches. Screen to body ratio is 90 percent. You will find this lightly by taking the phone in hand. Total weight is 150 grams. The plastic used in it plays a lot in the weight.

However, Vivo V9 does not seem to be worth the price of the Moto X4 in terms of price. But it does not seem too cheap. The bright rear panel is made of high quality plastic. The phone does not slip by hand. However, it easily captures fingerprints.

Vivo has provided a box with the phone, which you can use to avoid the hassle of fingerprint. Vivo has given power and volume buttons to the right of the phone in the phone. The SIM tray is on the left side. The Micro-USB port in Vivo V9 is downwards. There is also a loudspeaker, headphone jack and a microphone. Looking at the price of Vivo V9, we expected that it would come with a USB-Type C port. This port is also given in smartphones like Xiaomi Mi A1.

Take the phone in hand and find that it has given vertical position to 2 cameras. As well as the single LED flash. There is a metal rim around the dual camera, which protects the lens from scratches. There is a rear fingerprint sensor in the middle of the phone and Vivo’s logo is given below. We found that the sensor has been given slightly above the expectation. Apart from this the phone is comfortable to use. Its curved edges do not sting the phone in the hand.

Vivo V9 Specification

vivo v9 specs

Vivo V9 looks high-end. The phone has been made stronger from inside. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor is used in Vivo V9, with the highest clock speeds of 2.2 GHz. The phone has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The handset supports dual sim for which 2 nano sim slots are available. It is possible to extend the phone’s memory to 256 GB via the given slot of the microSD card in the name of storage.

Vivo V9 has a 6.3-inch IPS screen, with a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels. Asspect ratio is 19: 9. The viewing angles of the phone are better and we found that there was something like a red mark on the display. Unfortunately, this handset does not have the option to change the display output. Because of which you have to work from the same way you see it.

There is no mention of strong glass, but Vivo also offers pre-applied screen protectors. The phone has 4G VoLTE in terms of connectivity but with this service there is a SIM support at one goes. The second SIM is changed into 3G service during the first SIM use.

Vivo V9 Software and Features

Vivo V9 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. It has a custom font OS 4.0 UI top. The handset came with February’s Android security patch. Function not only facilitates notification dots and smart text selections. But it is capable of delivering the necessary features in Picture mode. In the company display, the icons like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, VOLTE could be on the right side. The left side of Nokia shows signals and outstanding notifications. Notch is not too wide, due to which the user gets more space than the iPhone X.

Vivo has given a gesture based navigation in the handset by moving one step further. Other features include Face Unlock feature, which works in Juggling of the front camera of the phone. The handset also has a smart call feature which allows handsfree mode and phone to be taken by ear to ear. The features of the phone are not finished right here; Flipkart, Prime Video, UC Browser, Amazon, NewsPoint, Whatsapp, Facebook and WPS Office are already installed.

Vivo V9 Performance

Vivo V9 runs all day without interruption UI is easy. With 4GB RAM, it appeared to be capable of doing small things. Vivo V9’s Face Unlock feature works better. However, in low light the phone faces difficulty identifying the face of the user, for which the pin may have to be inserted. Fingerprint sensor is also fast.

Vivo V9 Battery

The phone has a 3260 mAh battery. With apps like YouTube, Whatsapp, it is able to comfortably run the phone throughout the day. Vivo V9 in our HD Video Loop Test run 8 hours 49 minutes.

Vivo V9 Camera

vivo v9 camera

Vivo V9 has a dual camera. A 16 megapixel primary sensor and another 5 megapixel depth sensor. Vivo has not made significant changes to the camera. It is sure that it has added convenience to the AR stereo compared to the previous version. Vivo V9 comes with a Beauty Mode equipped with AI. It has been claimed that the handset can identify the user’s age, gender, texture, skin tone etc.

Photos taken from Vivo V9 proved to be mixed as quality. We found that the phone could do better in light but it could not give better results in difficult conditions. In daylight, Vivo V9 makes better focus and takes the exposure right. However, the output was a bit grainy and the landscape shots were not clear. Macros shot better, so that the phone was easily making a difference in subject and background. Camera quality falls in low light. Focus is delayed and blurred photos.

Vivo V9 has a 24-megapixel selfie camera, which is equipped with AI-Beauty mode. It also improves the shot itself. Selfies are obvious and they are worth posting on social media.

Our Decision

With Vivo V9, Vivo has been able to deliver the first Android smartphone equipped with the notch in the country. Hardware is better and there are many changes in software too. This is a good option for those who are good with the rest of the display and those who want to show off the show with the notch. Also, those who do not want to spend huge amounts on iPhone X can buy it.

Face recognition feature works better. At 22,900 Vivo V9, the USB Type-C port is missing, which has become commonplace in the rest of the day. The battery is weak and if you use the phone all the time, then by the evening you will be looking for a charger. The performance of the camera is better but it is answered in low light.

Vivo V9 is currently competing with Oppo F7. However, more smartphone will be launched in this category. In V9, the user will get a big display, a thin border and a small knouch, which is enough to draw attention. However, if you are not interested in buying it then the market is present in the 6 GB RAM variants of the Moto X4.
