Moto G5S Review: Design
Lenovo looks at its Moto G device as a ‘Value for Money’ product with a better specification than a handset with a better specification. The Moto G5S is stronger with being functional. But it was never known for beauty The Moto G5S is the first handsets in the company’s Moto G series, with little use of metal. In the special edition device, the company has tried to take this strategy further.
Recent Moto devices have similar design languages used. There is nothing wrong in this. It is featured with fingerprint sensor on the front panel of the phone, which work without hassle. The front panel of the handsets looks dashing.

The old-style Micro-USB port is at the bottom of the phone. The Speaker grill and microphone have got place on both sides of it. There is a circular bulge for the camera in which the sensor and flash module are found. The familiar Moto logo is in the middle and the antenna band still looks clean. Overall, the Moto G5S is much better than the old variants in appearance. It is protected from minor splints of water, because it comes with nano coating.
Moto G5S is more wide than the Moto G5 and the screen is also bigger. This phone is not suitable for use with one hand. It is possible to manage weight of 168 grams. On the other hand, the build quality of the Moto G5S is superb. And the texture is such that it is convenient to use it with one hand. The 157 gram phone gives the feeling of lightening to your body. There is a lot of options for connectivity and expansion. The phone comes with 32GB of internal storage that is sufficient for apps and music and you can extend the storage capacity by adding a micro SD card up to 256GB in the nano-SIM tray.
Moto G5S Review: Display
The Moto G5S has a 5.2-inch full-HD screen. There is also the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is made for daily use. Brightness is fine. However, its panel was reflection more than ours. In the direct light of the sun, we had trouble reading it. Because of this, frequent brightness was taken to the highest level. Viewing angles are good, but we had to face difficulties in using outdoor.
The phone comes in a green retail box, on which forward the “special edition” is clearly written. This makes it clear that the phone is an upgrade to the Moto G Fifth Generation Device. You will get a turbo power charging adapter, micro-USB cable, sim ejector tool and headset.

The handset runs on Android 7.1 Nouga, which is not the latest Android version available in the market today. Like other Moto devices, Moto G5S has also some of Motorola’s software features.
You will find many features of Android 7.1 Nouga, such as the ability to perform Quick Action by long tap on the app icon. The split screen will get multitasking feature. The smartphone will experience almost the stock Android, with the slightest temperament of Motorola. You will find software features such as MotoActions and Moto Display. With the help of Moto Actions, you will be able to activate the One Banat Neo. After this you will be able to navigate through the screen through the fingerprint sensor. Under Moto Display, users will be able to activate Night mode, which reduces the Blue Light. In addition, in standby mode this notification fades in and fade out.
Moto devices are among those non-Google smartphones that get Android security updates. In such a situation, be assured for future software updates. There will not be any spam apps in the Moto G5S.
Moto G5S Camera
Nowadays, dual camera’s smartphone has come in a big number in the Indian market. Moto G5S is a new member of this club. We have to take time to get introduced with its dual camera setup. You have the facility of editing even after taking photos but the photo still needs polishing. Backgrounds are blurred enough in the depth shot in good
light. But the edges do not seem obviously defined. Lenovo has to work on this. On the other hand, compared to the Xiaomi Mi A1, the Moto G5S Plus looks more capable of photography in low light. We were able to get good shot with good detail and controlled noise levels in low light..
The camera of the Moto G5S is much better than the Moto G5 S Plus. With the help of Phase Detection Autofocus, the Moto G5S achieves the right exposure and is accurate on most occasions in autofocusing. There was no lack of detail in the out door shot. But the highlights often require more exposure. The Moto G5S works best in macro shots. We were able to take many great close-up shots, better than the Moto G5S Plus Landscape shots will be considered as average. Indoor shot had some drawbacks. There were no details in shadow or dark areas. The camera of the Moto G5S becomes weak in low light. There was a lot of noise in our sample shot.
Moto G5S Performance Review
Moto G5S performs most of the work well. We never felt the need for more power. There is no complaint from multi-tasking too. The 5.5-inch display is perfect for watching and playing games. However, we complain of the phone being too warm. If the camera app is open for some time then the phone gets very hot. This is shocking, because the Xiaomi Mi A1 and Max 2 coming with this processor are not so hot.
The Moto G5S is generally cool. After playing the game for long periods of time or watching the video it is a little hot. There is smoother use of the phone and it is not slow at all. It has 4G VoLTE and the call quality is okay. Due to the reflection screen, Moto G5S is not very effective for multimedia. We had to compromise the brightness level several times. A loud sound speaks loudly to the speaker. With this, the quality of a given headset is very average.
During the review we also found that the mobile was hot during charging. We do not find this reduction in every device.
Moto G5S Review: Battery Life
The Moto G5S has a 3000 mAh battery. Battery capacity seemed a bit lower because the bigger phone needs space for bigger batteries. With the use of fun, the Moto G5S battery lasted about 18 hours. In our standard HD Video Loop Test, the Moto G5S battery lasted for 12 hours 35 minutes and plus variants for 11 hours and 15 minutes. The good thing is that both phones come with the Turbopower adapter. The Moto G5S battery gets charged 100% in 60-70 minutes.
Moto G5S Comparison
Comparing the camera, Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5 Plus camera are more reliable than the camera of Moto G5S. Although G5S captures much better photos, but sometimes you’ll be disappointed when you need it. However, if compared to Nokia 6, then the camera of Moto G5S Plus is much better.
Our decision: Moto G5S Review
The situation in the Indian smartphone market varies rapidly. In such a way, Lenovo seems to have decided to launch a special edition variant. But the old model’s user will be disappointed. The company’s product lineup will be
fresh with the help of Moto G5S. However, the company can make the user experience better using the dual camera. Stock Andrew has always been considered as good, but it is also becoming more common now. Fast charging support also goes in favor of this.
Moto G5S is much better than Moto G5 Plus. But it will be a big challenge from Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 which is available at low prices. The Moto G5S Plus will be confronted with Xiaomi Mi A1, which costs a little too much.
If you are a fan of Motorola, then Moto G5S will definitely entice you. Because they are excellent in appearance and give good performance in every sense according to their cost. We hope Lenovo will soon roll out VoLTE support for the Moto G5S Plus. Now apart from Jio, Airtel has also come with VOLTE service.
