The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is one of the most promising cars from the maker, which is riding on the Indian’s road rapidly, in terms of sales. The premium hatchback was first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015 and launched in Indian market in the next month October 2015. The car is positioned above the Swift and Maruti Range and till now, the company has sold 2.5 lakh units of Baleno in the Indian market till August 2017. The car has made its position in the automobile market in against to some key players named as Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20. If talking about the price, the Baleno is less expensive than the Elite and Jazz.

March Sale Report
“Today Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) reported a 14.9 per cent increase in total sales at 1,60,598 units in March as against 1,39,763 units in March 2017.
Baleno jumped by 13.5 per cent to 68,885 units as against 60,699 units earlier.”
The first month of the 2018 calendar year has end and we finally have the sales reports from car manufacturers in India. SUV market leader Mahindra has announced a total growth of 32 per cent, while Japanese automaker Toyota has registered a total growth of 15 per cent. Maruti Suzuki has got up 5% domestic sales during January 2018 including the sales of Maruti Baleno.
“Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 151,351 units in January 2018, growing 4.8% over the same period last fiscal. This includes 140,600 units sold in the domestic market up 5.0 percent with 10,751 units of exports that have risen by a marginal 2.8 percent. The company had sold a total of 144,396 units in January 2017.”
Maruti Baleno Price (GST)
From the July 1, 2017, the GST has been rolled in the tax system. From this, prices of all the variants of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno have been revised.
Delhi ex-showroom price: The starting price for this premium hatchback now starts at Rs 5.26 lakh for Sigma petrol trim, as opposed to Rs 5.28 lakh pre-GST. That’s a modest reduction of Rs 2,000. The Alpha diesel now costs Rs 8.43 lakh against the pre-GST price tag of Rs 8.42 lakh.
Mumbai ex-showroom price: The hatchback now starts at Rs 5.29 lakh, as opposed to Rs 5.58 lakh pre-GST. That’s a reduction of Rs 29,000. The Alpha diesel trim now costs Rs 8.49 lakh compared to Rs 8.91 lakh before GST. That’s a price drop of Rs 42,000.
Do note that prices for insurance are marginally higher, as they are taxed at 18per centinstead of the earlier 15 per cent.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has made its availability in the country in 10 versions with two motor options, two transmission and two fuel options. Moreover, the petrol version of Baleno houses a 1.2-liter motor which oozes maximum power of 83 BHP 115 Nm of torque, whereas the 1.3-liter diesel version has 75 BHP of power and 190 Nm of torque.

Maruti Baleno Performance
With this segment’s car, we expected a diesel engine of 90 bhp, but at the moment, the power of 75 bhp will be available at 1.3 liters of the engine, which has already supplied its capacity in cars like Swift and Dzire. Less power will be available here than competition, but light clutch and linear power delivery also make it suitable for city driving. There is a claim of 27.39 kmpl mileage which can be its major USP. The Japanese automaker has done a excellent job with the Baleno and it does feel smooth to drive and it doesn’t even feel jittery up to speeds of 120km/hr. The performance is very much linear and the throttle response is also good. Drive it in city or on the highway, it is very convenient.
With the1.2 liter petrol engine and 5 speed manual gearbox, Maruti’s first car will also have a choice of CVT automatic gearbox. The manual gearbox did not make us smoother, but the performance of CVT not only provides a comfortable ride in the city traffic but it also enjoys running on the highway. But you will also get CVT in the above-mentioned variant and you will have to work without many high end features including Apple Car Play.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Mileage
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is lighter than Swift as the company has reduced the weight of the car to make it performance oriented and fuel efficient. The diesel version of Baleno gives a fuel economy of 25 KMPL in the city area and 27 KMPL on the highways. The petrol version returns less fuel economy than the diesel version, as the petrol version gives a mileage of 19 KMPL in the city roads and 21 KMPL on highways.
Baleno Interior Design
The manufacturer has offered plenty of spaces in the car that can be stand out it apart from the crowed. The rear section offers wide room for the passengers’ lags. It features all new refreshing dashboard layout, while the steering mounted functional keys are quite easy to operation the music system, and the mobile connectivity. The Baleno is blessed with dual airbags that are standard in all variants.
The Baleno comes with a clutter free and no nonsense design, but there is a con that is its mediocre build quality. All models are featured with all black dashboard with 2-DIN music system and black seats also. Talking about the quality of material that uses in the Baleno, it feels just like the Maruti Swift. The door pads material looks like plasticky.
Instrument Panel: The Baleno’s top variant Alpha is loaded with an all new instrument console with a color TFT screen that shows torque/power output and fuel efficiency.
Comfort Zone: Now come to its comfortability, Maruti Baleno gets adjustment front seats with proper leg room and enough headroom. There is adequate space for 6-foot person. Rear feat arrangement is also good as its floor is relatively flat and enough shoulder width for two adults and one child.

The company has introduced modern generation and standard safety components to keep in competition with the rivals. The braking system of Baleno is taken care by the front disc brake and rear drum brake. It features the same suspension that also doing job in Honda Jazz, Honda Elite i20 and Honda Amaze. The Baleno gets front MacPherson Strut suspension and rear Torsion Beam suspension. To make the braking system more strong, the company has used ABS with EBD (electronic brake distribution) that are standard across all the variants.
