Hyundai’s I20 is a car which gave a new height to the premium hatchback segment, especially since the arrival of the Elite i20 has become the market’s favorite. There was something in it that left the sedan cars and came towards it. The car is getting a strong competition from Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the company has given some new features by giving it facelift. We tried to test drive and know how much its X-factor has increased. Hyundai Elite i20 Design
There is no change in basic design, but the introduction of new more curvy hexagonal grill in the front has not only brought newness to Lux, but it also looks even more premium than before. The second major change is made in the backlit pattern, the new backlights remind you of Mercedes GLA. All options of new design have also been given.
Hyundai Elite i20 Looks
As you would expect a change, the most important changes are cosmetic. In front of you, Elite Eye plays 20 new Hyundai family grills, which essentially gives the shot of Botox to the old grill. On that side, the front bumper looks sharp and the smaller ones surround the fog lamp. Here’s a nice touch that they include thin air curtains to reduce the drag.

The only noticeable changes on the sides are the restored 16-inch alloy wheels of Asta dual-tone and Asta (O) types. They are straight from European-spec i20 and look quite sporty. This is the last end where transitions are easy to move. The number plate has been taken from bumpers to boot; The bumper is inserted into an accent-esque black and the tail light is modified in the internal details (they are still not the LEDs but see the part).
Hyundai Elite i20 Interior Design
There are not even major changes in the interior, but you will definitely notice the new touchscreen infotainment system. It is now more responsive than ever before and you can read it without sunlight, even without pressure on your eyes. Inside, the changes are of a nap-and-you-miss variety. The buttons between the central AC vents, for example, do not flush, and before the gear lever one of the 12 V power sockets has been replaced by the USB port. The MID is a bit more widespread because all significant distance-to-empty and average fuel efficiency readouts can now be viewed here. There is some good attention to the detail in the form of parking sensor display / door alarm alert, which shows you the new elite I20 in advanced supervision cluster (Hyundai Talk for Multi-Information Display).
In addition, contrast-painted versions i.e. black-roofed versions get a black-colored interior and contrast-colored accents on AC vents and gear levers. Get your elite i20 in white or red with black roof, and when you choose orange with a black roof, you get red accents while you take the orange accent inward.
No Automatic Gear Box
Finally, 1.4 liter petrol magna AT version has been discontinued. For that, we call good radians. The size of the engine meant that the Elite I20 Excise Duty Benefit was not eligible for sub-4 meter cars and was eligible to carry it up, it employed the older 4-speed automatic transmission. Do not bother though. Hyundai will present a CVT with 1.2 liter petrol in May 2018, which is like Honda Jazz and Maruti Balano, which we are certain, will be more competitive and fuel efficient.
Hyundai i20 Features
The Hyundai i20 has been upgraded with some new features such as Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Mirror Link are present as before. Sound quality is also great. A new 12-volt USB port will also be available in the new edition which is different from the connecting port and charging fast. Top airrients get 6 airbags. Dual airbags and ABS are available in all the variants. The list of concert and premium features is quite long as it is before.
Hyundai i20 Engine, performance and Mileage
Speaking of the engine, the first 1.2 liter petrol and 1.4 liters diesel engine is available. Automatic transmission with 1.2 liter petrol engine is also available. The diesel powerhouse is mated to the 6 speed gearboxes. Both engines are tuned in such a way that the highways and the city are good for both types of drives. While overtaking on the highway, the gasoline engine looks a bit weak, but this lack can be overcome by bringing in lower gear. On the other hand, there is no lack of power in the diesel engine and it is also very soft. Mileage has increased 9%. Suspension has also made minor changes and now the car runs with more confidence.
Hyundai i20 Competition
If you pay more attention to overall quality and premiums, then you have to choose Honda Jazz and one of them. If you talk about Value for Money, then it will be a match with Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Baleno’s features and mileage in some of the variants are heavy but the quality and premiumness of the Elite i20 competes with this segment, even if it does not have too many cars to do above segments.
