Honor 7X Design Review

Today the big screen’s trend is going on. So Honor 7X is perfect for this. The 5.93-inch screen occupies the front of the phone. There are thin borders on the edges but the top and bottom thickness is slightly higher. On top of the screen there is earpiece and 8 megapixel front camera. Like the Honor 9I, there is a fingerprint scanner on the rear of 7X. The scanner is easy to use and our experience of unlocking the phone is great. Honor has used Metal Unibody in this smartphone, which gives it a premium look and feel. The phone has antenna bands up and down, which reminds us of the Honor 8 Pro.

The metal body is curved along the side and because of this, the phone looks good on hand. The power and volume buttons given on the right in the phone are the right place. And we realized that there is a problem reaching the volume button. The loudspeaker downstream, 3.5mm headphone socket, primary microphone and micro-USB port. Dual camera setup on the rear comes with a single-LED flash. Honor used two rings instead of a single ring. Even before this we have seen such a camera setup in many recently launched phones. The camera is slightly embossed but due to the metal ring there is no risk of scratches on it. The front has an 8 megapixel selfie camera on the front.

Honor 7X weighs 165 grams, which makes it light in hand. The thickness of the smartphone is 7.6 millimeters whereas the battery capacity is 3340 mAh. Honor has given a 10-watt charger in the box, which charges 100 percent of the phone in two and a half hours.

Honor 7X Specifications, Software and Feature

Honor 7X Software

Most phones in Honor have a processor with hawaii. 7x has a Hysilicon Kirin 659 processor and the same processor has been used in Honor 9I. In Honor 7X you will get 32 GB and 64 GB storage but both variants have 4 GB RAM. The handset with two Nano SIM slots supports the Hybrid Dual SIM Slot, which means that the option of two Nano SIM or one SIM and one MicroSD card will be found only. It is possible to increase the storage via the microSD card upto 256 GB. The phone supports 4G and VOLTE on both SIM cards, but 4G works can be accessed on one network at a time.

Honor 7X has a full HD + resolution screen, which is equipped with 2.5 de Curved Glass. But there is no mention of any kind of security. Viewing angles are good and Honor has given the option to set color temperature according to its convenience. Brightness is good in the indoor, but in the light of sunlight, we have difficulty using the phone with one hand.

Like all other honored devices, the 7X runs on a custom EMUI skin of the Huawie. The phone has Android Noga based EMUI 5.1 skin. You will have the option of choosing layouts with and without an app drawer. There is a theme support for customization in UI. Honor has given a single-handled mode for easy use of the phone despite the large screen. In addition, the app can run on 18: 9 aspect ratios if they are not automatically scaled.

With all the necessary things, you get bloaterware too. Honor 7X has been supported by Honor’s Support App HiCare and a gaming app store, HiGame. Apart from this, there are web shortcuts like Hi Honor and Honor Community. You will find the demo version of Spider-Man: Ultimate Power, Asphalt Nitro, Bubble Bash 3, Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour, and Danger Dash installed. But you can delete them.

Honor 7X Performance

honor 7x performance

In Honor 7x, the processor and RAM of the same jugalbandi are used which is in Honor 9i. And in the benchmark, both of these scores similar scores. Hence, the phone has scored 62,504 whereas in Geekchain’s single-core and multi-core test, it has scored 906 and 3569, respectively. Performance in the GFX benchmark is average. We tried to play heavy-duty Shadow Fight 3 game in the phone and we did not have any problem in playing the game but it took time to load.

Honor 7X Battery Life

It’s great to watch movies and play games on a large display. However, we saw that the phone gets hot after playing long game. And the battery also spends too fast. With normal use the phone runs for one day. But playing games and watching videos have a great effect on the battery. The phone’s battery supported our HD video loop test for 8 hours, which is less than this size battery. Honor has given some battery saver software features in the phone and it is easy to use. But they should not be used at all times.

Honor 7X Camera Review

The camera app is easy to use and in addition to the default auto mode, you can choose between wide aperture, moving picture and portrait mode. Apart from this, you also get many more modes. There are also many other options like Pro Photo Mode. You can also download other features as needed.

Photos taken from Honor 7X look good in the first glimpse. However, you can see the lack of detailing when zooming into landscape pictures. And you see pixels. Macro shots are good and the difference between the subject and the background can be seen clearly. Wide aperture mode gives you a great depth of field.

To keep pictures in the night, the hand has to be kept stable. Night snaps in photos taken in Auto mode but Sharpness is fine. But there is an impact on quality. Selfies also seem scattered but they can be shared on social media. 1080 pixel video recording from primary camera while maximum 720 pixels of video recording can be done with selfie camera.

Honor 7x Price in India

Latest launched, Honor 7X price starts from Rs 12,999 in India. The phone has been launched in October 2017. Honor 7X price in India is Rs. 12,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs. 15,999 for the 64GB model.

Verdict: Opt or Not

With Honor 7X, X series has been updated. In the phone, a large display with 18: 9 ratio is available. And the strong hardware will not disappoint you. The phone’s camera performance is not very good and the battery life could be better. If you want a modern look phone then Honor 7X is a good option. But if you want an all-rounder device, then Xiaomi Me A1 is a better option.

Good

  • Well built
  • Good screen

Bad

  • Battery life could be better
  • Average camera performance
