Tata Motors, an Indian four-wheeler manufacturer introduced the Nexon as a concept at the Auto Expo 2014. Its funky looks, dynamic design and engine specification make this subcompact SUV vastly different its rival including Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. After a long time of nearly three and a half year, the Indian firm has launched new version Tata Nexon on Thursday at smart price range at Rs 5.85 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The car comes in both model diesel and petrol. According to the Tata Motors reports, the Tata Nexon has boost up 18% sale of total sale in September month. By seeing a huge demand of this car on Festival Season, the company has increased its manufacturing rate. Tata Motors sold only 4,164 units of Nexon in the November 2017.

Out Look and Design
When we put our eyes on its design, it seems that car is inspired by Tata Hexa. It is a new line of Tata SUV. The car is manufactured on the X1 platform. This platform is also used in the Tata Indica hatchback and Manza sedan. The car is developed under the HorizonNext product strategy and all sub-compact SUV Nexon is designed under Tata Motor’s IMPACT design philosophy. The Nexa is featured by the broad grille, massive wheel arches and class-leading 209mm of ground clearance. All these features make this compact SUV different than firm’s line-ups. Other noteworthy components of this SUV induces raked-windshield, sloping roof-line from the side draws the silhouette of a hatchback while moving to the rear then reaffirms the SUV theme. The design of Tata Nexus is quite attractive and stylish, it has been built on the company’s Impact Design theme, on this theme, the company has also made Teigo, Tigor and Hexa. The company has given a dual-tone roof (roof) in order to bring it to the coupe model.

Talking about its interior layout, that is new with quality plastic works that seems better than higher segment’s models. The top of the dashboard is featured with softer plastic that is superior. There are no rough edges and the plastic is very tough. The interior gives premium look as it is plastic with gloss finish on the lower dashboard and doors. Interior sports with chrome finished door handles, buttons and air conditioner vents that offer a royal look to the interior.
Seating Posture and Comfort
When you sit on the front seat, you just feel comfortable as you will a proper legroom and kneeroom. There is also a side support that helps holding the occupant well. If you are 6 feet person, then you can also sit properly both side front and rear as there is enough headroom. The rear side has much better high support and knee room compared to front seat.

Furthermore, Tata Naxon is loaded with a huge of comfort features including the air-flow with rear ac vents, steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs with retractable feature, engine start-stop button, automatic climate control, two 12-V power sockets, reverse parking sensor, driver armrest and duplicate key resembling a fitness band for locking and unlocking etc.
Apart from comfort features, there are a lot of storage spaces such as cup holder in centre console, bottle doors in all doors, cubby hole on floor console, central console unit with a slider, a large glove box with 2 cup holders, wallet holder, card holder, tab holder tray.
The Interior is also featured with 6.5 inch floating touch-screen ConnetNext infotainment display. It comes with connectivity features like Android Auto, voice command for climate control, voice command recognition and 8 speakers etc. Infotainment system is powered by the Harman. Nexon’s infotainment system has two more standout features including placement (of the screen) and the control knobs for the touchscreen system.

Based new IMPACT design theme, the front side looks aggressive with the Tata’s signature. The car offers a stunning look as it featured with sharp projector headlights with the chrome finishing and D shaped LED bulbs integrated into the grille. When the car run on the road, it offers magnificent look as it is incorporated with the large air-dams on the lower bumper, dual shade fog lamps on with ceramic white strip. Day-time running LED lights have also been added to projector headlamps. Fog lamps with rounded shapes on the bottom of the grill are given. The number plate is fitted in the middle of the air intake section and the grill.
The Nexon gets pronounced wheel arches and 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels. It runs on the large profile tyres. The ceramic strips, coupe-like roof, black plastic cladding on the door and sporty edges enhance its appeal on the road.
Tata Motors has unrolled the Nexon in the Indian market for compete its rivals. The car sports with unique design from rear side that offers decent look compared to its competitors. At rear, the car gets a multiple elements including thick ceramic strip, rear diamond shaped indicators and many more. Bumper matching the body color and black plastic with gloss finish boost its appeal when it cross you and you just see it from backside.
Engine and Power
The Tata Nexon comes with all-new with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Revotron family and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel Revotorq engine. First talk about petrol model, the car is powered by the 1.2 turbo-charged Revotron engine that churns out 108 BHP of maximum power and a peak torque of 170 Nm. Now come to diesel variant, the Nexon gets the power from a newly developed 1.5 litre four cylinder Revotorq diesel power-train that produces a maximum power of 108 BHP and a peak torque of 260 Nm. Both powerplants are connected to the six-speed gearbox.
You get an excellent handing experience as the Nexon sports with electronic power steering that is well weighted and direct. The car also offers a dynamic handing performance on the undulations and potholes road as it is featured with McPherson dual path strut with coil spring at front side and semi-independent twist beam with coil spring and shock absorber at rear side.
Tata Nexon gets three drive modes including Eco, City and Sport. All these drive modes come with both variants diesel and petrol. Every mode is capable to offer a dynamic performance as per the requirement of the driver. You can change the mode by changing the characteristics of the engines. Sport mode is the nicest mode to use as it offers a superior performance. Talking about the city mode, it gives you a better driving experience in the city traffic. On the other side, Eco mode is not good mode as it spends a lot of oil. You can use it when you are going outstation and your company pays fuel allowance.

Tata Nexon City Performance:
When you drive petrol variant Nexon in the city, the 1.2 litre petrol unit doesn’t get enough power until 2000rpm and there is also a problem of gear shifting frequently in the city. Engine gets a proper power post 2000 rpm on the flat and wider roads. On the other end, diesel powertrain does not require gear shifting frequently unlike petrol version.
Tata Nexon Performance on Highway:
The Nexon offers classic performance on the road as petrol engine generates an ample power across all gears until the 4500 rpm. Cars hits the 120 km/h speed in the third gear. It is a suggestion, when you are on the highway use sport driving mode that offers a dynamic performance. While, diesel variant compact SUV offers a great performance on the highway in low rpms and there is no need to change gears frequently.
Braking and Safety Features
Talking about the safety components, the car is loaded with vital safety features includes standard driver airbag for driver safety and co-passenger airbag. Driver gets a great braking experience as the compact SUV is equipped Anti-lock-braking system (ABS). Other noteworthy safety features such as park assist with rear sensors, rear defogger, park assist with camera, day and night inside rear-view mirror, front fog lamps with cornering assistance, rear fog lamps etc.

The Tata Nexon is priced between a price tag of Rs 5.85 lakhs to Rs 9.44 Lakhs. Talking about the mileage, the petrol model Nexon offers a decent mileage of 18 km/l while, diesel version returns a handsome mileage of 23 km/l. The compact SUV gets five paint scheme including Vermont Red, Moroccan Blue, Seattle silver, Glasgow Grey and Calgary White.

Tata Nexon Sale Report: November 2017
Tata Motors made a grand entry in the compact SUV segment with Nexon. And it was being thought that it will rock in the sale in its family but the recently launched Ecosport beat the Nexon in sales. As per the records, the Tata Motors sold 5,474 units of the newly launched Ecosport, while Tata sold only 4,164 units of Nexon in the November 2017.
