2017 Honda Navi Review India: Excellent Performance and Mileage

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) created a lot of buzz in the Auto Expo 2016 by revealing its out of the box two wheeler, Honda Navi. It turned out to be the big surprise at the 2016 Auto Expo and after waiting patiently, we were finally asked to ride HMSI’s little moto-scooter at an amusement park, quite refreshing from the usual test locations. Petite in looks and easily the opposite of every conventional on sale in the country, I was given the task to sample this wonder and having spent a day with this ‘funtastic’ two-wheeler, here are our first impressions of the Navi.

Honda Navi Design

Honda Navi Review India

Looking at Honda Navi, a crossover scooter comes with less motorcycle look. It’s like a mini bike in which the front big headlight is given. While comparatively, the other two-wheeler does not usually have to see such a big headlight. Navi has a small and beautifully designed fuel tank. In addition, a wide seat is also given.

At first sight, we may find that Honda has brought Navi to the market with new design elements but when you look closely at it, and then you will get an idea of this bike’s overall design.

For example, the rear panel is not very effective. Honda has given a huge exhaust to Navi, which stands it among the other motorcycles. Also, its carbon fiber look makes it different from other two Wheeler that are present in the market.

Engine, specification and mileage

Honda Navi Engine

Talking about the power, the Honda Navi is powered with 109 cc single cylinder air-cooled engine. Same engine is featured with its famous Scotty Activa. This engine generates torque of 7.8bhp and 8.9Nm of torque, which is equipped with CVT gearbox. The Navi offers an excellent mileage up to 45 kilometers per liter on new urban roads. If you run it at speeds up to 70 kilometers per hour then it will be quite comfortable for you. The reality is that Honda is comparatively lightweight compared to the new Activa and its engine is really shocking.

The Honda Navy engine is quite smooth and vibration free just like activa. Two people sitting on this bike can easily enjoy riding.

Ride & Handling

Honda Navi Riding

The best thing in Navi is that Honda has not had a clutch and gear system like a regular motorcycle. These are not both in Navi. Like a scooter in this bike, the braking of both wheels is controlled by hands.

The power delivery of this bike is quite smoother and what makes it special is that its position is like a motorcycle and its riding experience is as light as a scooter. The mini bike is featured with telescopic front suspension and single-mounted rear suspension that offer a dynamic riding on the pits of roads.

Honda Navi’s seat is quite comfortable. Its seat is long and wide enough for two people. Talking about the riding position of this scooter bike, it is full of confidence in the city running, whether it is the bike riding on the highway traffic. Its Pillon footrest has been placed far enough which can cause some trouble for the rider.

Instruments and Storage

Instruments have been kept very low in Honda Navi. A large speedometer has been given in Navi, which is equipped with all the warning lights. Things have not been given in Trip Meter, Fuel Gauge, Clock, Side Stand Warning and Low Fuel Warning. Honda Navi’s instrument can be easily read. Its fuel tap has been kept traditional and has a fuel tank of 3.8 liters.

If you look from the storage perspective, then there is less space under the seat and to keep something in it, it is to open a lock like a scooty, which is on the left side of the seat. This space is so much that you can keep a mobile phone or some papers in it. Apart from this, you can also put something in the storage box which is just below the fuel tank. Honda Navi’s break levers have been well-designed and have the best grip in them. It gives comfort to the biker. While its rear view mirror offers a clear visibility of rear side. Honda Navi doesn’t come with Cambi Brake System ie CBS.

Honda Navi Price and Colors

Honda Navi Colors

Honda Navi’s ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs. 42,616. This price comes after paying insurance and road tax. If you apply glass, side stand, number plate etc. in it, then it will be charged separately from this price. It is not included in Navi registration. Honda is available in 5 different colors. These are Patriot Red, Shasta White, Black, Hopper Green and Sparky Orange.

Competitors

The best thing to do with Honda Navi is that there is no company in India at present and probably no one will be to compete it in the coming days. The reason for this is being made out of Navy’s Out of the Concept, which is also its uniqueness.
